We are missing Aldersgate

One of the biggest transitions of our move has been the kids not being able to attend their daycare, Aldersgate, everyday. They loved going there to see their friends and fabulous teachers! So the summer for Hayden has been all about the camps. Unfortunately Emerson is too little to go to camp...so she spends her day swimming with daddy at the rec centers or playing at the various parks around town.
This first camp at Sunflower Farm was so cute! Our friend Carrie was in town with her two kids so Hayden attended camp with them along with their cousin that lives in Boulder. The farm was so much fun - they fed animals, did crafts, water play, etc.
**Emerson had no idea that she couldn't attend on the first day we did drop off, needless to say the exit after drop-off was pretty traumatic.

She attended a few more camps ~ "My First Camp" through the City of Boulder, "Trash to Treasure" art camp at a local private school and her final camp was a "Backyard" camp where they just did about everything for a week -- crafts, water play, games, etc.

Hayden starts Kindergarten in less than two weeks!  She is SO excited to be around kids all day, everyday.  As we get closer to August 16th we have a Kindergarten picnic and open house to attend.  We're looking forward to her meeting some friends, we're looking forward to meeting people in general :-)

We found an amazing daycare for Emerson.  She has to be 2/12 and potty trained to start so she'll be able to attend starting at the end of September.  We are just crossing our fingers the teachers are as great as her Ms. Vanessa and Ms. Veronica, super high bar to reach there.

Settling In

I can't believe it's been almost a month since our last post. The weeks seem to be zooming by at warp speed. We are settling in, finding lots of things to keep us busy! We just love the nature that is here. We are surrounded by it ~

We made it to Colorado!

We arrived in Boulder on Wednesday June 6th. Ok, it's been a month since we arrived and it's been a total whirlwind. The moving truck got here on Monday the 11th so we had a little bit of down time(umm, not really). The house hadn't been cleaned, the yard was overgrown. We absolutely had our work cut out for us. On top of it all, Colorado was having a heat wave and temperatures had gotten up to 105 degrees. OMG it was hot! And of course, we don't have A/C, who would have thought it was needed in Colorado.
Hayden organized the stuff that was in her suitcase. This is her new closest, some really cool "built-in's"!
We could not have made this trip without my mom and dad! We traveled together and then they stayed and helped after the moving truck arrived. So thankful for all that they did!
We decided to take a day off and headed up the Mountain to Nederland. 18 miles straight up from Boulder ~ it is an amazing drive and and incredible scenery. Nederland is a total hippie town ~ shops, restaurants, dispensaries~ what more could you ask for? Here's Emerson and I on the adorable carousel. Couldn't pass up adding a pic of the Boulder Creek! More adventures to follow, it's just beginning!

On The Road ~

Road trip! I was completely worried that it would be a disaster since the kids have never driven further than 2 hours at a time. I was pleasantly surprised with how well everyone did, including Lux, Harvey and Ritchie. I caught a funny face on Hayden, but that face only happened a few times on the drive over. I finally asked if Hayden wanted to use the Ipad a few hours into the trip. We don't use screens in the car, she had no idea that was even an option, oops! We were trying really hard to get to St. George our first night. It was pushing 10:00pm and we just needed to take a break. Soooo, we ended up in Mesquite, NV. We had to find a pet friendly hotel and this was our option:(at $32.00/night we were petrified! but it actually wasn't that bad after all....it had a Starbucks in the casino!). We headed out Tuesday morning with a few miles left to drive in Nevada. A quick 20 miles or so in Arizona and then we hit Utah. MAN - my pics do not give this drive justice. It was just incredible! Absolutely gorgeous! It's probably what made the drive seem quick ~ the scenery of these amazing red rock mountains were just stunning.

Packing up Woodland Street

I took a few pics of the house as it was being packed. It was an absolute whirlwind that day. Not ready or prepared for 4 people to come in and just start packing. It took me about 30 minutes to compose myself as I frantically ran around the house making sure I had held out enough for us to live for a week. I came to terms with it and moved on, what we didn't have we could buy... The house was packed, the Kings were playing game 2 and all I wanted to do was head down and see the beach with the Buenos!(and we had the best pizza at BJ's...) We spent Sunday at Disneyland. We headed over and met Koji(Hayden's boyfriend) and his mom Leslie for lunch and a few hours together in the park before Sloane and Emerson met up with us. It was a last day in California party ~ we met up with The Thomson's, The Trafford's and Zane & Lauren. It could not have been a better day! The movers arrived Monday morning and we were ready for them. Had our morning organized but could not have gotten everything done without the help of Christian(thank you!). Had a wonderful breakfast with Audra, Justin and Christian then it was time to finish up and hit the road. The moving team was really great ~ they are masters at what they do! Next Stop: Boulder, Colorado!

Getting ready for the big move to Colorado ~

This is our last weekend in California as residents. We've made the decision to move to Colorado, a very big decision. So much to do and not enough time to do everything I had wanted. That's o.k. Tomorrow morning the moving company is coming to pack the house and I will let it all go. Whatever I do not complete here, I will do there. Outside of our wonderful family and friends we will be leaving, we are also letting go of a house that we love. It's been a wonderful 6 1/2 years here. Not only did we gain a major appreciation for Mid-Century Modern, we've also gained some life long friends. We live in an amazing neighborhood of like minded people. I think that is so hard to find. Good-Bye Woodland Street and our wonderful Eichler - you will be missed(all but the massive amount of maintenance these houses require).
